Ministry Areas
Nine areas of need across Orange County.
These are the people and needs we try to serve. Volunteers are shared across them rather than split into separate programmes, many members working as one body (Romans 12:4–5): the same trained companion might visit a widow on Monday and a disabled neighbour on Thursday.
“As we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone.”
- 01
Prison & Re-entry
We keep faithful company with men and women in custody (Matthew 25:36), and walk with them across the cliff edge between release day and an ordinary life (Galatians 6:1–2).
- Prisoners, their families & re-entry
- 02
Care & Companionship
One trained team of companions, drivers and helpers who visit widows, elderly neighbours, disabled adults and exhausted family carers in their affliction (James 1:27).
- Widows
- The elderly & isolated
- Disabled neighbours
- Family caregivers
- 03
Children & Families
Standing with fatherless children and the foster families who take them in (Psalm 68:5–6), and with mothers facing a hard pregnancy or the early months alone (Psalm 139:13–16).
- Fatherless children & foster families
- Expectant & new mothers
- 04
Food & Essentials
Groceries, gleaned fruit, beds, workwear and urgent help with bills: real things for real need, given with an open hand (Deuteronomy 15:11).
- The poor & those in need
- Hunger, food & gleaning
- Clothing, furniture & household goods
- Debt & money trouble
- 05
Sickness & Recovery
Sickness, injury and addiction should never leave anyone alone by the roadside (Luke 10:33–34). We visit, drive, bring meals and, with proper clinical oversight, serve.
- The sick & injured
- Addiction & recovery
- 06
Shelter & Emergency Housing
No one without safe shelter is “somebody else’s problem” (Isaiah 58:7). We find what already exists, and where nothing fits, we open doors (Job 31:32).
- Homelessness & emergency housing
- 07
Practical Service
Our rapid-response “hands” team for gardens, moves, repairs and errands (Acts 20:35), and help finding honest work for anyone ready to work (Ephesians 4:28).
- The weak, weary & temporarily laid low
- Work, jobs & provision
- 08
Accompaniment & Protection
Walking beside newcomers, the wronged and those who have suffered violence (Psalm 82:3–4), always alongside qualified specialist partners (Proverbs 15:22).
- Newcomers & strangers
- The wronged & voiceless
- Survivors of sexual violence
- Domestic abuse
- 09
Grief & Comfort
Presence, meals and practical help through loss (Romans 12:15), and Christian burial with dignity for those who die with no one (Acts 8:2).
- The grieving & brokenhearted
- The forgotten dead
Separately governed
Detecting Abuse
Safeguarding, and referring credible allegations of abuse in Christian settings to the authorities God has appointed (Acts 20:28–29; Romans 13:4).
“When you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you.”
This rule governs every area: help is never limited to the pleasant, the Christian, the grateful or those able to repay (Luke 6:32–35). Mercy never cancels safeguarding, honesty or the law (Romans 13:1).
Here am I. Send me.
Bring your skills, your car, your toolbox or simply your Saturday mornings. The harvest is plentiful and the labourers are few (Matthew 9:37–38).
